Tip Calculator

Bill, tip, split — done. Everything updates live as you type.

All math happens locally — the page even works offline at the restaurant.

About this tool

The end-of-dinner math, solved while the card machine is still warming up: enter the bill, tap a tip percentage, set how many people are splitting, and read off the tip, the total, and each person's share. Decimals welcome, any percentage allowed, works offline once loaded.

Frequently asked questions

How much should I tip?

Customs vary by country: 15–20% is standard in the US for table service, around 10% is common in much of Europe when service isn't included, and some countries don't tip at all. The quick buttons cover the common rates, and you can type any percentage.

How does bill splitting work?

The total including tip is divided evenly by the number of people, and each share is shown rounded to the cent.

Should I tip on the pre-tax or post-tax amount?

Traditionally tips are figured on the pre-tax subtotal, though many people simply tip on the final amount. Enter whichever base you prefer — the math is the same.
