About ToolDesk
Why ToolDesk exists
Everyday file tasks — shrinking a photo for an email, converting an iPhone picture so Windows can open it, merging two PDFs before sending them — shouldn't require installing software, creating an account, or uploading private files to a stranger's server. Yet most "free online tools" do exactly that: your files travel to their cloud, get processed there, and you're left trusting a privacy policy you never read.
ToolDesk takes the opposite approach. Every tool on this site runs entirely inside your browser. Modern browsers are remarkably capable: they can decode and re-encode images, rebuild PDFs, and generate QR codes all on their own. Your files never leave your device — we couldn't look at them even if we wanted to, and that's by design.
What that means in practice
- Private: nothing you open in a tool is ever uploaded. Processing happens in your browser's memory and is gone when you close the tab.
- Fast: no upload/download round-trip. A 20 MB photo compresses in the time it would take just to upload it elsewhere.
- Free, no strings: no accounts, no sign-up walls, no file-size ransom, no watermarks.
- Works offline-ish: once a tool page has loaded, most tools keep working even with a flaky connection.
The tools
ToolDesk currently offers ten tools, and the collection is growing:
- Image Compressor and Image Resizer — for shrinking photos by quality or dimensions, in bulk.
- JPG→PNG, PNG→JPG, WebP→JPG and HEIC→JPG — for converting between the image formats real life throws at you.
- Compress PDF and Merge PDF — for taming documents.
- JSON Formatter and QR Code Generator — everyday utilities for developers and everyone else.
How it's funded
ToolDesk is free and intends to stay that way. To cover hosting costs the site may show a modest amount of advertising in the future — never pop-ups, never paywalls, and never at the cost of the privacy promise above. See the Privacy Policy for details.
