Rotate PDF
Fix sideways or upside-down pages — rotate any page or the whole document with live thumbnails, then save the corrected PDF.
About this tool
Scanners feed pages in sideways, phone cameras save landscape shots upright, and a colleague's export arrives upside down. The "rotate view" button in most PDF readers only fixes the problem on your own screen — the next person opens the file and sees it wrong again. This free PDF rotator writes the rotation permanently into the file, so every page opens the right way up in any viewer, on any device, and when printed.
Drop a PDF and a thumbnail of every page appears. Rotate a single page 90° left or right with the buttons under its preview, or use the global controls to turn the whole document 90° or 180° in one click; each thumbnail updates instantly and shows its current rotation. Everything runs in your browser with the open-source pdf.js and pdf-lib libraries, so nothing is uploaded and the operation is lossless: the page content is not re-rendered, text stays selectable and the file size barely changes.
How to rotate a PDF
- Drop your PDF onto the box — thumbnails of every page appear.
- Use ↺ / ↻ under a page to rotate just that page, or the Rotate all buttons for the whole file.
- Click Download rotated PDF to save the corrected document.
Frequently asked questions
Is my PDF uploaded when I rotate it?
No. The thumbnails are rendered and the rotation is written by JavaScript running in your browser, so the document stays on your device from start to finish. There is no account and no server-side processing.
Can I rotate just one page instead of the whole PDF?
Yes. Every page gets its own left and right rotate buttons under its thumbnail, so you can fix a single sideways scan while leaving the rest untouched. The global buttons rotate all pages at once when the whole file is wrong.
Is the rotation permanent, or just a viewing setting?
It is saved into the file. The tool updates each page's rotation attribute in the PDF itself, so the pages open the right way up in every viewer, on phones, and when printed — unlike the temporary rotate-view option in most PDF readers.
Does rotating reduce the quality or change the file size?
No. The page content is not re-rendered or re-compressed — only a rotation value is changed — so text remains selectable, images keep their resolution and the file size stays essentially the same.
What if a page was already rotated in the original file?
The thumbnails show pages exactly as they currently appear, and your change is added on top of any existing rotation. If a page already carries a 90° setting and you rotate it 90° more, it is saved as 180°, which is what you see in the preview.
