Gross figures are straightforward arithmetic on your hours and weeks. The take-home section applies one flat percentage and ignores progressive tax bands, allowances and benefits — treat it as a ballpark, not payroll or financial advice.
About this tool
Job ads quote hourly rates, offer letters quote annual salaries, landlords ask for monthly income and your bank statement shows bi-weekly deposits — comparing them in your head is error-prone. This free salary converter turns any one figure into all the others at once: type an hourly wage and see the annual salary, or type a yearly salary and see what it means per hour, per day, per week, every two weeks, twice a month and per month. The conversion is fully two-way, so you can edit whichever number you actually know.
The maths rests on two assumptions you control: hours per week (default 40) and paid weeks per year (default 52). Hourly workers who take unpaid vacation can lower the weeks figure to see their real annual income; part-timers can lower the hours. An optional take-home section applies a flat deductions percentage for a quick net-pay ballpark. Everything runs in your browser — no sign-up, no uploads, and your pay details never leave your device.
How to convert hourly pay to salary
- Set your hours per week and paid weeks per year (keep 40 and 52 for a standard full-time job).
- Type the one figure you know — hourly, monthly, annual or any other — and the rest fill in instantly.
- Optionally enter an effective tax rate to see a rough take-home estimate per year, month, week and hour.
Frequently asked questions
How do you convert an hourly wage to an annual salary?
Multiply the hourly rate by the hours you work per week, then by the weeks you work per year. At the defaults of 40 hours and 52 weeks that is 2,080 hours a year, so $25 per hour becomes $52,000. Going the other way, divide the annual salary by 2,080 — a $60,000 salary works out to about $28.85 per hour.
Why would I change weeks per year from 52?
If you are paid hourly and take unpaid time off, you are not earning for all 52 weeks. Two weeks of unpaid vacation means 50 paid weeks, which lowers the real annual figure by about 4%. Salaried employees with paid leave should keep 52, because their annual pay is fixed regardless of holidays.
What is the difference between bi-weekly and semi-monthly pay?
Bi-weekly means every two weeks — 26 paychecks a year, each equal to two weeks of pay. Semi-monthly means twice a month, usually on the 15th and the last day — 24 paychecks a year, each equal to the annual salary divided by 24. Semi-monthly checks are slightly larger because there are fewer of them, but the annual total is identical.
How is the daily figure calculated?
The daily amount assumes a five-day working week, so it is simply the weekly figure divided by five. If you work a compressed four-day week or six days, your actual daily pay differs — the hourly figure is the more reliable one to compare in that case.
How accurate is the take-home estimate?
It is deliberately rough: a single flat percentage applied to gross pay. Real deductions are progressive and depend on your country, state or region, filing status, retirement contributions and benefits. Use it to get a ballpark net figure, then check an official tax calculator or a recent payslip for the precise number.
