About this tool

Who presents first? Which restaurant tonight? Who wins the raffle? A spinning wheel settles it in seconds and nobody argues with the result. This free spin the wheel tool turns any list — names, tasks, prizes, dinner options — into a colourful random picker wheel. Paste one entry per line (up to about 100), press Spin, and watch the wheel whirl for a few seconds before slowing to a stop on the winner, which is highlighted on the wheel and announced in a big result box.

The landing spot is chosen by your browser's cryptographic random source and every segment has equal size, so the pick is genuinely fair. Tick Remove winner to draw several winners in a row without repeats, use Shuffle to reorder the segments, and your list is saved in local storage so it is there when you return. The wheel runs entirely in your browser, works with touch on phones and tablets, and never uploads your names anywhere — handy for classrooms, team stand-ups, giveaways and game nights.

How to pick a random name

  1. Type or paste your entries into the box, one per line — the wheel redraws as you type.
  2. Press Spin (or tap the wheel) and wait for it to stop.
  3. Read the winner in the result box; tick Remove winner to draw again without repeats.

Frequently asked questions

Is the wheel truly random or can it be rigged?

The stopping angle is drawn from the browser's cryptographic random source before the animation starts, and every segment is the same size, so each entry has exactly the same chance. There are no hidden weights or settings that favour one name — what you see is the whole mechanism.

How many names can I put on the wheel?

Up to 100 entries, one per line. Labels shrink automatically as the wheel fills up and very long names are shortened on the wheel itself, but the winner is always shown in full in the result box so nothing is ambiguous.

Can I remove the winner so the next spin picks someone else?

Yes — tick Remove winner from the wheel after spin and each winner drops off the list automatically, which is ideal for drawing several prizes or ordering a group of presenters. Untick it to keep everyone in for every spin.

Does the wheel remember my list?

Your entries are saved in this browser's local storage every time you edit them, so they reappear when you come back on the same device. They never leave your computer; clearing the browser's site data or using a different device starts with the sample list again.

Does it work on phones and tablets?

Yes. The wheel is drawn on a canvas that resizes to fit the screen, and you can spin it by tapping the wheel itself or the Spin button. It works in any modern mobile browser with no app to install.
